The Portuguese Rui Oliveira was crowned this Wednesday, for the second time in his career, runner-up in Europe by elimination by getting the second medal for Portugal in the first round of the European Track Cycling Championship.
At the Grenchen velodrome, in Switzerland, Oliveira saw German Tim Torn Teutenberg outclassed in the fight for gold. Dutchman Philip Heijnen took bronze.
The silver achieved by the 26-year-old Portuguese, who had already been crowned runner-up in Europe in the elite category in 2018 and had won bronze at the 2017 European Championships, joins the gold of Maria Martins in the scratch.
