The Italian Davide Massa will officiate this Wednesday the match between the Belgian Club Bruges and Benfica, in Bruges, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League, UEFA reported on Monday.
Davide Massa, 41 years old and international since 2014, will have the assistant referees Filippo Meli and Stefano Alassio, and the video referee (VAR) will be another of his compatriot, Paolo Valeri, assisted by Marco Di Bello.
The match between Club Brugge and Benfica begins at 9:00 p.m. local time (8:00 p.m. in Lisbon), at the Jan Breydelstadion, in Bruges.
The second leg of the tie is scheduled for March 7, at the Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon.
Benfica reached this stage of the competition after winning the group stage, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Maccabi Haifa, while Club Brugge came second in the group to FC Porto (first), Bayer Leverkusen and Atlético Madrid.
In that group stage, FC Porto was thrashed at home by the Belgians, and they went on to thrash, both games by the same result, 4-0.
In this phase of the ‘Champions’, FC Porto visits Inter Milan on February 22 and receives the Italians on March 14, in the second leg.
