Sporting and Benfica will play the the last four of the Futsal Champions League in Palma de Mallorca, informing UEFA this Monday that the host of the final phase will be Mallorca Palma Futsal.
The final phase of the competition, which will take place between May 5, with the semifinal matches, and May 7, with the final, will take place at the Palma Arena, a pavilion with a capacity for 6,607 spectators, and in addition to the Portuguese clubs and the organizer, also Anderlecht.
It is these four teams that are bidding for the European futsal club title, having won their respective elite round groups, with Anderlecht ahead of title holders FC Barcelona in group D.
In their group, Benfica finished ahead of the Czechs from FK Chrudim, the Maltese from Luxol St.Andrews and the Kazakhs from Kairat, European champions in 2013 and 2015, and Sporting won the group with the Ukrainians from Uragan, the Italians from Feldi Eboli and Serbs from Loznica.
In the competition, Sporting is runner-up, after losing the last final, against FC Barcelona (4-0), in an edition in which Benfica finished third.
The lions were proclaimed champions, against FC Barcelona itself (4-3), in 2020/21, and against Kairat (2-1), in 2018/19, and Benfica in 2009/10, against the Spaniards from Inter FS (3-2 after extra time), in the final played in Lisbon.
