The Slovenian Matej Jug is the referee of the match between Sporting de Braga and the Italians of Fiorentina, in the first leg of the play-off access to the round of 16 of the Europa Conference League football.
UEFA today announced the referees for the first leg of the play-off, with Matej Jug, 42, an international since 2007, refereeing Thursday’s match in Braga (5:45 p.m.), assisted by compatriots Tomaz Klancnik and Manuel Vidali.
The video referee (VAR) will also be the Slovenian Nejc Kajtazovic, assisted by Asmir Sagrkovic.
Sporting de Braga analyzes qualifying for the ‘eighth’ of the Europa League after descending from the Europa League, a competition in which they finished third in the group, behind the Belgian Union St.Gilloise and the German Union Berlin.
Fiorentina, for its part, tries to continue in the third UEFA club competition, after finishing second in the group stage, behind the Turkish Basaksehir, who, as the winner, qualified directly for the ‘eighth’.
All eight group winners are already at that stage, including Basaksehir, West Ham, Villarreal, Nice, AZ Alkmaar, Djurgarden, Sivasspor and Slovan Bratislava.
The return match between Sporting de Braga and Fiorentina is scheduled for February 23, at the Estádio Artemio Franchi, in Florence, and will kick off at 8:00 p.m. (Lisbon time).
