Amaro Antunes misses three editions of the Volta a Portugal and is sanctioned for four years for doping

Amaro Antunes was suspended for four years by the International Cycling Union (UCI) for “using prohibited methods and/or prohibited substances”, losing, among other results, the 2021 Volta a Portugal.

According to the list of cyclists suspended by the UCI, updated this Monday, Amaro Antunes, whose suspension is valid until December 5, 2026, loses his victory in the 2021 edition of the ‘queen’ of national cycling, but maintains his victories in the 2020 and 2017 editions.

The 32-year-old Algarve, who announced his retirement from cycling on January 16, still sees the results of the 2015 and 2016 Tours erased, as well as the 2017 Tour of the Algarve, in which he won the fifth stage. with a finish at the top of Malhão (Loulé), and in the Tour of the Valencian Community that same year.
