FC Porto closes the first half of 2022/23 with a loss of more than nine million euros

FC Porto SAD presented a negative result of 9,891 million euros (ME) in the first half of 2022/23, below the 10,329 ME obtained in the same period of 2021/22, revealed this Tuesday the club of the I Football League.

According to the consolidated report and the accounts sent to the Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários (CMVM), the operating result, excluding player transfers, increased by ME 12,047, mainly in view of the performance in UEFA competitions, although revenue inherent to the pass It is not yet included in the round of 16 of the Champions League.

Operating costs grew by ME 17,475 compared to the first half of last season, including the allocation of prizes for FC Porto’s access to the group stage of the main European club competition as national champion and the respective performance in 2022 /23, as well as the 23 conquest of the Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup.

Despite the fact that the results of the assignment of soccer passes did not register the usual preponderance in the company’s accounts, by contributing 3,687 ME, the operating result was set at 1,430 ME, in line with the same period of the previous year.

FC Porto SAD’s liabilities were reduced by ME48,747, to reach ME481,370 on December 31, 2022, mainly due to the “decrease in the overall value of bank loans”, by ME41.8, which meant a cut of the 15% compared to June last year.

The assets stood at 359,342 ME, which caused the net worth to register a negative value of 122,028 ME, higher than the 111,668 ME calculated in mid-2022.

In the traditional message published in the report and accounts, President Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa stressed that he is in charge of a club “accustomed to difficulties and overcoming obstacles that require a lot of work and a constant ability to improve.”

“We can never promise victories, because that can only be achieved on the pitch, but we no longer need to promise commitment and dedication, especially since all those who like and follow FC Porto know that we always fight for victory, for conquest and that We don’t have it bad at all, we will continue to be competitive and we believe that in May we will have reasons to celebrate”, assured the top leader of the national champions.

Sérgio Conceição’s team currently holds the four main national football trophies, after having added this season’s Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira and an unprecedented League Cup to the conquests of the 30th championship and the 18th Portuguese Cup in 2021 /22.

FC Porto is in second place in the I Liga, with 51 points, eight behind leader Benfica, after 22 rounds, it will face Famalicão in the semifinals of the “queen competition” and is at a disadvantage in the middle of the ‘eighths’ of the ‘Champions’ with Inter Milan.
