The Portuguese Jessica Inchude qualified this Thursday for the shot put final of the European Athletics Championships on the indoor track, in Istanbul, Turkey, in which Auriol Dongmo, champion of the title, was already present.
Jessica Inchude, 26, who entered the competition with the fifth best mark in 2023, thanks to her personal best 18.47 meters, threw 17.92 meters, achieving the seventh best mark in the qualifiers.
Auriol Dongmo, 32, achieved 18.51 meters on the first attempt, being one of the two athletes who surpassed the direct classification mark (18.50), together with the Dutch Jessica Schilder (19.18).
The Sporting pitcher holds the national record of 20.43, established on March 18, 2022, when she was proclaimed world indoor champion, in Belgrade.
With only one valid throw, the third and last, Eliana Bandeira achieved a mark of 17.23, finishing in 12th position, far from the personal record of 17.97 that would give her the qualification.
The shot put final is scheduled for Friday, starting at 8:53 p.m. local time (5:53 p.m. in Lisbon).
