The Portuguese Arialis Gandulla Martínez, Lorene Bazolo and Rosalina Santos qualified this Friday for the 60 meter final of the European Athletics Indoor Championships, in Istanbul, Turkey.
Arialis Martínez, 27, debuted with the national colors by winning the fifth of the five qualifying series, in 07.24 seconds, achieving the sixth time among those present.
Rosalina Santos, 25, qualified in her debut in the ‘indoor’ Europeans with third place in the fourth series, with a time of 07.30, while Lorene Bazolo, who holds the national record (07.17), also advanced in competition with fourth place in the second, in 07.32.
The best Portuguese result in the fastest women’s event of the Europeans was the 13th place achieved by Virgínia Gomes in Lievin1987 and Bazolo in Glasgow2019.
The 60-meter semifinals will be played this Friday, starting at 7:05 p.m. local time (4:05 p.m. in Lisbon), with the eight fastest women from Istanbul 2023 qualifying for the final, scheduled for 9:45 p.m. ( 6:45 p.m.)
