The thrower Auriol Dongmo was crowned European indoor shot put champion for the second time in a row.
The indoor world champion defended the gold medal achieved in Torun 2021, reaching 19.76 meters -and the best world mark of the year, in her third attempt-, while her Sporting teammate launched the apparatus at 18:33, in her fourth trial, snatching fourth place.
The German Sara Gambeta, with 18.83, and the Swedish Fanny Roos, with 18.42, snatched the silver and bronze medals, respectively, dethroning Inchude, who managed 18.33.
The 32-year-old Dongmo started the contest at 19.63, followed with 18.68 until he shot 19.76, earning him his second straight European title. After a null on the fourth launch, he ended the competition with 19.38 and 19.62.
Jessica Inchude, 26, made her debut at the European Championships with fourth place, reaching 18.33 meters on her fourth attempt.
With Dongmo’s gold, Portugal has 28 medals in the European ‘indoor’, 17 gold.
