Dutch driver Max Verstappen won the Bahrain Grand Prix, the first race of the Formula 1 season, on Sunday.
It was even Red Bull who dominated the race, with Sérgio Pérez in second place. In third place was Fernando Alonso, who this season switched from Alpine to Aston Martin.
The two Red Bulls started from the front row of the grid, but a poor start from the Mexican caused Charles Leclerc to skip a position at the first stop. However, the strategy of the reigning Constructors’ World Champion backfired throughout the race, with the top two places decided with more than 20 laps to go.
The fight for third place ignited shortly after, when the Monegasque Ferrari driver was forced to retire. The one who took advantage was the Spanish Aston Martin veteran who, after overtaking Lewis Hamilton, did the same with Carlos Sainz to close on the podium and confirm the good feelings he showed in free practice and qualifying.
On the side of disappointment, there is McLaren, since Oscar Piastri did not finish his debut race in Formula 1 and Lando Norris was the last driver to finish the race, in 17th.
