Brazilian player Neymar, who comes from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), will undergo surgery on his right ankle “in the coming days” in Doha, Qatar, and will be off the field for “three to four months”, announced this Monday the French club.
PSG said in a statement that the 31-year-old “has had several episodes of instability in his right ankle in recent years”.
“Following his last sprain, on February 20, Paris Saint-Germain medical staff recommended surgery to repair the ligaments to prevent a high risk of recurrence,” the note reads. “All the specialists consulted confirmed” the need for surgery, the Parisian club adds.
It is estimated that Neymar will remain three to four months away from “collective training”, which will mean the end of the season for the Brazilian striker.
