UEFA on Monday made official the organization’s 47th congress, which will take place on April 5 at Lisbon’s Congress Center. The event will serve to re-elect Aleksander Čeferin as president of the body until 2027 and will elect Fernando Gomes as one of FIFA’s vice-presidents, at UEFA’s direction.
The Lisbon Congress will also elect the new members of UEFA’s Executive Committee and the body’s representatives on the FIFA Council (two Vice-Presidents), a position for which the President of the Portuguese Football Federation is applying.
Fernando Gomes and Le Graët were the two candidates for the seat, but the resignation of the Frenchman, current president of the FIFA Council, over allegations of moral and sexual harassment in the French federation left the Portuguese leader the only candidate for the seat. position eligible for UEFA, for the next four years.
The president of the FPF has also been one of six vice-presidents of UEFA since 2011, a position he will now leave due to crossing the age limit.
