Morocco announces the joint candidacy with Portugal and Spain for the 2030 World Cup

The King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, announced on Tuesday that this African country will join Portugal and Spain, which aligned themselves with Ukraine, in the bid to organize the 2030 World Cup.

In Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, where the FIFA Congress is taking place, Mohammed VI announced a candidacy “unprecedented in the history of football, which will unite Africa and Europe, the north and south of the Mediterranean, and the nations African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean”, in addition to bringing “the best of everything”, in a message from the monarch that was read at the delivery of an award from the African Football Confederation (CAF).

Portugal and Spain had announced an Iberian candidacy to organize the 2030 World Cup, to which Ukraine was later added, after the Russian invasion of that country, but the Moroccan sovereign did not make any reference to the Ukrainians, insinuating that this country would withdraw from the project.

to what TSF found, nothing is defined about Ukraine’s participation in this candidacy. The Portuguese Football Federation does not confirm the agreement announced by the King of Morocco.
