Morocco announced this Tuesday that it will compete alongside Portugal and Spain for the 2030 World Cup. The announcement was made by Minister Chakib Benmoussa, who read a message from King Mohammed VI at the FIFA Congress in Rwanda.
“This joint bid, which is unprecedented in the history of football, will bring together Africa and Europe, the North and South of the Mediterranean, as well as the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean world. In us: with a combination of genius, creativity , experience and resources”said Benmoussa, reading the message from King Mohammed VI.
Portugal and Spain had announced an Iberian candidacy to host the 2030 World Cup, which Ukraine later joined, after the Russian invasion of that country, but the Moroccan sovereign made no reference to the Ukrainians, suggesting that this country would pull out of the project pull back.
