American surfer Caitlin Simmers, just 17 years old, won the main circuit competition of the World Surfing League (WSL) at Praia de Supertubos, in Peniche, beating her compatriot Courtney Conlogue in the final.
In the final, Caitlin Simmers scored 13.50 points in the two best waves (7.17 and 6.33), out of 20 possible, compared to Courtney Conlogue’s 12.83 (9 and 3.83).
The MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal, the third stage of the main WSL circuit, started on Saturday and ended on Tuesday, with the Brazilian João Chianca winning the men’s event, after defeating Australian Jack Robinson, leader of the world circuit, in the final. .
