Benfica, Sporting and FC Porto mourn the death of Rui Nabeiro

Benfica, Sporting and FC Porto mourned this Sunday the death of businessman Rui Nabeiro, founder of Grupo Nabeiro – Delta Cafés, who died at the age of 91.

In a statement, Benfica speaks of “a reference and an inspiration for all”, recalling “the immense humanism, Portugueseness and social sense that prevailed in each of its initiatives”.

“Member 4696, a gold emblem with more than 50 years of dedication to the club, it is a source of pride for Sport Lisboa e Benfica to have Grupo Delta as a partner and to be able to closely follow the growth and internationalization of one of the biggest brands Portuguese under the leadership of Rui Nabeiro”, it reads.

Also in a statement, “Sporting Clube de Portugal expresses its sorrow for the death of Rui Nabeiro, who passed away this Sunday at the age of 91.”

“Futebol Clube do Porto sends its deepest condolences to Rui Nabeiro’s family and friends, as well as to the entire Delta family, a long-time partner of our club,” reads a message from FC Porto, on the social network Twitter.

The businessman Rui Nabeiro, founder of the Nabeiro – Delta Cafés Group, died today at the age of 91, victim of an illness, at the Hospital da Luz, in Lisbon, a group source informed Lusa.

“It is with deep regret that the Nabeiro family informs that today, March 19, Commander Manuel Rui Azinhais Nabeiro, president and founder of the Nabeiro Group – Delta Cafés”, can be read in a statement sent by the group.

Commander Rui Nabeiro “was hospitalized at the Hospital da Luz, due to respiratory problems,” added the same source, referring that “the date and the funeral program will be communicated in a timely manner.”
