The Porto City Council will support, through the “Retoma Desporto” line, with 100 thousand euros, 51 sports entities and clubs in the municipality for the acquisition of sports and medical-sports equipment, it was announced this Wednesday.
In a statement, the municipal company Ágora – Cultura e Desporto clarifies that the “Retoma Desporto” line, which emerged in 2021 to help minimize the impact of the restrictive measures on sports activity due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will make the program “in regular support for the preparation of sports seasons”.
In the first edition, the program allocated 70,000 euros to 55 sports entities and clubs in the municipality, increasing the amount allocated in this second edition by 30%, amounting to 100,000 euros, to 51 sports clubs.
The amounts to be granted within the scope of the program are divided into two categories, starting to receive the federated entities of one or two modalities and less than 100 athletes 1,793.72 euros, while the federated entities of more than two modalities or more than 100 athletes receive 2,242.15 euros.
The support will be formalized on Thursday, with the contract signing session scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Parque da Pasteleira Tea House.
Cited in the statement, the Councilor for Youth and Sports of the Porto City Council, Catarina Araújo, stresses that the “next few years are going to be challenging” and that, for this reason, the municipality “continues to work in a closer relationship with all the agents sports and bet on the city’s communities”.
“We have transformed this support instrument into a regular economic incentive, as unbureaucratic as possible, for the purchase of sports and medical-sports equipment,” he adds.
