Jesualdo Ferreira was fired from Zamalek for the second time in two months

Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira was sacked from Zamalek’s technical leadership this Wednesday following the team’s poor results, adding two more sackings in the space of two months.

“Thank you Jesualdo Ferreira for everything you have done for our club. We wish you every success for the future,” Zamalek wrote on the official Twitter account.

The official departure of the experienced coach, aged 76, comes a few days after the defeat in Algeria, against Belouizdad, 2-0, for the African Champions League, and which dictated the elimination of the team, which is included in Group D of that league, when there is one day left to play.

The Portuguese coach had already been sacked at the end of January, also for sporting failure, after the 3-0 defeat to Al Ahly, but would eventually return to the position a few weeks later at the request of president Mortada Mansour.

After leading Zamalek to the title of champions of Egypt last season, Jesualdo Ferreira was unable to keep the team on track and are currently fifth in the Egyptian league, 11 points behind leader Al Ahly, who has two less games played.
