In a very eventful session, Oliveira, who was the victim of a fall during it, got the 19th time, with 1,39.794 minutes, 1,249 seconds from Australian Jack Miller, making his debut with the official KTM team and soon with a new record of circuit, with 1,37,709 — the previous one belonged to the Italian Pecco Bagnaia (1,38,725), since 2021.
Bagnaia (Ducati), current world champion, failed to demonstrate the dominance he had had in the tests and was third, 0.110 seconds behind the Spanish Maverick Viñales (Aprilia), who was only 0.037 behind Miller.
Still out of Q2 was the Spanish Marc Márquez (Honda), six-time MotoGP world champion, who crashed in the last minutes of the second session, finishing 14th, as well as his brother Alex, who moved to Ducati from Gresini. and it was only 11th. , after being the fastest in morning training.
The other rider from the main Honda team, the Spanish Joan Mir, also a former world champion, was also left out of Q2, being 12th, 0.685 seconds behind Miller.
The second session was interrupted twice, the first for technical reasons and the second due to a violent accident involving Spanish Pol Espargaró (GasGas), who had to be removed from the track by ambulance.
The first MotoGP qualifying session is scheduled for 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, adding the first two to the 10 that have already secured their presence in Q2 today, serving the starting grid for the sprint race, also on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and for the main race on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
