The Spanish Daniel Holgado (KTM) added his first victory in Moto3 this Sunday, by winning the Portuguese Grand Prix, the opening race of the World Championship of speed motorcycling.
In a race with constant changes of leader, Holgado ended up being the one who remained in front of the race for the longest time and was able to definitively isolate himself in command with five laps to go, winning in 34.27.061 minutes.
The Spanish David Muñoz (KTM) secured second place, 0.160 seconds behind his compatriot, after having started the race in 13th position, achieving the third podium of his Moto3 career.
Also great recovery was the Brazilian Diogo Moreira (KTM), who after starting from 16th position, got his first podium finish, 0.175 behind Holgado.
With the Japanese Ayumi Sasaki leaving the ‘pole position’, the Australian Joel Kelso (CFMoto) took the lead in the first corner, starting a great fight for the final victory, with several riders going through the head of the race, in a group. of about 10 units that ran very close until almost the end.
Holgado, whose best performance in Moto3 was third in Aragon in 2022, ended up being the strongest, but did not escape a scare towards the end.
Kelso, the first leader of the race, got distracted after crossing the finish line, did not notice Holgado’s slowdown and ended up crashing into the rear of the Spaniard’s bike, suffering a hard fall, apparently without gravity.
The second stage of the World Speed Championship will take place on April 2, in Termas de Río Hondo, Argentina.
