Conte is no longer Totenham manager

The Italian, who took charge in November 2021, had criticized the club’s players ahead of the international break for national team matches, following a 3-3 draw at Southampton.

He will be replaced by his assistant Cristian Stellini until the end of the season. Stellini had already replaced Conte this season as the 53-year-old recovered from gallbladder surgery.

Former Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason, who was briefly caretaker manager in 2021, will take over as assistant coach.

Conte leaves Spurs fourth in the Premier League, but is just two points ahead of fifth-placed Newcastle, who have two games to play in London’s race to qualify for the Champions League.

“We have 10 Premier League games left and we have to fight for a place in the Champions League,” Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy said in a statement.

“We all have to work together. Everyone has to work hard to ensure the best possible ending for our club and our great and loyal supporters.”
