Dutch driver Max Verstappen beat the competition and edged past Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez in the first free practice session for the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne, Australia.
On Saturday, the drivers will return to the Melbourne track to decide the classification for the starting grid.
The Australian Grand Prix, the third round of the World Championship, is scheduled for this Sunday at 6:00 a.m., continental Portugal time.
