Carlo Ancelotti confirmed the Brazil national team’s interest in having him as coach, but said on Saturday that he wants to fulfill his contract with Real Madrid until the end.
The Italian coach said the Brazilian Football Federation wants him to replace Tite, who resigned after Brazil’s surprise elimination in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup. Ramon Menezes is currently the interim coach.
Ancelotti’s contract with Real Madrid expires in June 2024 and the coach says he will respect the agreement with the Spanish team.
“Yes, the reality is that the Brazilian team wants me and that makes me excited,” Ancelotti said at a press conference. “After that you have to respect the contract and it’s a contract I want to keep to the end”.
Ancelotti said he was happy in his second spell at Real Madrid, but nobody knows what could happen in the future.
“Everyone can say what they want, and then there is the reality,” the coach added. “In my case it is very simple. I have a contract and I want to keep it to the end because I love Real Madrid, I love this club and everything that can happen after that is in the future and no one knows the future.”
Real Madrid are currently second in La Liga, 12 points behind leaders Barcelona. Ancelotti’s side will receive Real Valladolid on Sunday before facing Barcelona in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final on Wednesday.
