Fourth monument in the pocket. Tadej Pogacar wins the Tour of Flanders by bike

The Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar won the Belgian classic of the Tour of Flanders this Sunday, one of the monuments of this sport.

The UAE Team Emirates cyclist completed the 273.4 kilometres, with many cobblestones in between, in 6h12’07”. Mathieu van der Poel was second, 16 seconds behind, and Mads Pedersen closed the podium (another 1’12”).

This is the fourth monument won by the Slovenian, after having already won two Tours of Lombardy and one Liège-Bastogne-Liège, but the first in one of the main cobbled events.

Ivo Oliveira, Pogacar’s teammate, finished the race in 58th place, 11’23” behind the winner, and André Carvalho did not finish the race.
