Switzerland to host the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Football Championship

Switzerland will host the 14th edition of the Women’s European Football Championship in 2025, the UEFA Executive Committee decided on Tuesday in Lisbon, after a vote in three rounds.

Switzerland won the final vote, with nine votes, beating the Nordic bid, led by Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, with four, succeeding England, host of the Euro 2022 finals.

In the second round, the Swiss organization had already been the most voted, with six, ahead of Norica, with four, and Poland, which, with three, was eliminated.

The first vote meant the elimination of France from the process, with a single vote, before the tie between the other three candidates (Switzerland, Poland and the Nordics), with four each.

“After a very complicated process and three rounds of voting, we chose, through a democratic process, the organizer of Euro2025: Switzerland”, revealed, in Lisbon, the president of UEFA, the Slovenian Aleksander Ceferin.

The 2025 UEFA European Women’s Championship final tournament will be played by 16 teams in eight stadiums across Switzerland during the summer of 2025.

The deliberation of the UEFA Executive Committee preceded the UEFA Congress in Lisbon on Wednesday, with a new meeting of the body scheduled for June 28, at the headquarters of the body that governs European soccer, in Nyon, Switzerland.
