The president of FC Porto says that the team really wants to beat Benfica. Speaking to reporters outside the hotel where the Dragons are staying in Lisbon, Pinto da Costa played down the ten point difference between the two teams.
“Those are those common places that say: ‘you only do the math at the end’, blah, blah, blah… Let’s get into today’s game, then the rest will be seen in the future.”
“The team feels an enormous desire to win, in fact, translated by what coach Sérgio Conceição said at the press conference, he is motivated and only thinks, as he said, of victory.”
Asked about the future of Sérgio Conceição in the blue and whites, Pinto da Costa reinforces that the coach will continue to command the team.
“I’ve already been asked this question 1,317 times, so I’ll answer it as always: Sérgio Conceição has a contract for one more season, he doesn’t have to stop having it and what I hope is that, in addition to next season, there will be many more ”.
Regarding his eventual candidacy for the presidency of FC Porto next year, Pinto da Costa admits that he has not yet had time to think about it.
“I have so much to do by then – the elections are still a year away – that this is not part of my current concerns.”
