Fonte do Bastardo took the lead this Sunday in the final of the Portuguese volleyball championship, beating Benfica at home, 3-2, in the first game of the decisive tie.
At Praia da Vitória, in the Azores, the home team was to lose 2-0, plus guarantee or victory, by 22-25, 18-25, 25-21, 25-21 and 15-12, in two hours and 20 minutes.
Fonte do Bastardo visits Benfica on April 22 and 29 and, with two wins, guarantees his third national title. If necessary, the fourth game will be played in the Azores, on May 3, and the fifth and last three days later in Lisbon.
