Controversy in handball with referees calling for a strike

Faced with this decision by the handball referees, the clubs of the Associação de Andebol do Porto have already asked for “common sense” for this trip, since they consider that there is a “potential to distort the sporting truth”.

The referees will go on strike after the Association of Referees and Table Officials asked the 32 elite refereeing teams to be exempted from their duties for April 22, 23 and 25, 2023. This request was also sent by letter, according to the newspaper. O Jogo, for the management of the Portuguese Handball Federation.

This decision implies that no referees have been appointed for matchday 21 of the Championship, which this Saturday will feature Póvoa-Sporting and will end on Sunday with Benfica-FC Porto.

Sporting leads the league with 58 points, followed by FC Porto with 57 and SL Benfica in third place with 56 points.
