Manchester City go to the semi-finals with a draw in Munich

Manchester City progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League this Wednesday, with a draw in a fully controlled game, taking full advantage of the comfortable advantage gained in the first leg.

In Munich, the best part was that Bayern even managed to tie the game, 1-1, in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, where they had to overcome a three-goal deficit.

Pep Guardiola was just one step away from his 100th Champions League win, but it still wasn’t this one: Halland’s opening goal, on 57 minutes, was canceled out after 83 minutes by the penalty scored by Kimmich.

For those who had to recover from three goals, Bayern did little today, against an opponent who plays with brilliant automatisms, from defense to attack, where Halland confirms today that he is the striker in better shape.

Halland started by missing a penalty, in the 37th minute, which had not happened to him for two years, he was still a Borussia Dortmund player.

The young Norwegian didn’t give up, not even close, and after 57 minutes he opened the scoring at the Allianz Arena in what was his 12th goal in this edition.

Kevin de Bruyne provided the assist for goal, with the Belgian being the ‘engine’ of his midfield, along with Portugal’s Bernardo Silva, once again brilliant.

Defending the ‘sky blues’, Ruben Dias and Bayern’s João Cancelo did their utmost to stop the raids of his opponents, namely Bernardo Silva – so ‘committed’ that he saw a yellow card, for foul.

Without Cancelo on the field – he left in the 63rd minute – Bayern reached the goal, in the 83rd minute, through Kimmich, after Manuel Akanji’s hand.

For a third consecutive time, City reached the semi-finals, repeating last year’s clash with Real Madrid, then en route to the Spaniards to lift the trophy.
