FC Porto is the fourth team with the most penalties in the world since 2020

FC Porto was the fourth team from the top 75 world leagues to receive more fines since 2020, according to a conclusion published on Thursday by the Football Observatory (CIES).

During this period, the dragons saw 41 penalties awarded in their favor, the same number as Fenerbahçe’s Turks. Only Costa Rican side Herediano (44), Egyptian side Zamalek (43) and Croatian side Hajduk Split (43) benefited from more penalties.

The top 10 is completed with the Colombians from Deportivo Cali (40), the Saudis from Al Nassr (39) and Al Hilal (38), the Turks from Galatasaray (38) and the Greeks from PAOK (38).

I Liga is the European league with the lowest penalty conversion average

AI Liga football is the league, among the major European leagues, with the lowest average penalty conversion in the last three years, according to a study released this Wednesday by the Football Observatory (CIES).

According to the organization, the Portuguese league has an average of 73.4% penalty conversion, the lowest number of all European countries.

Taking lower tiers into account, only Sweden’s Second Division has a lower average than the First League, at 72.3%.

In this list, II Liga also appears in seventh place with a low number (74.9%).

Of the main European championships, the Spanish league (74.9%) and the Greek league (76.2%) close the competition podium with the lowest socks.

In the opposite direction, France has the championship with the most penalties, with 82.2%, followed by Turkey with 82.1% and the Netherlands with 81.5%.

Still according to the same study, in the I Liga a penalty kick is awarded every 247 minutes and in the II Liga it happens every 264 minutes.
