Russia is not participating in the qualifying draw for the European Football Championship (Euro 2024), UEFA and the Russian Football Association confirmed on Tuesday.
It is recalled that the Russian national team and clubs were banned from international competitions by UEFA earlier this year after the invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
“All Russian teams are currently suspended following the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee of February 28, 2022, which was ratified by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on July 15, 2022,” European football’s governing body said in a statement.
“Russia is therefore not included in the qualifying draw for the UEFA European Football Championship 2022-24”, which is scheduled for October 9 in Frankfurt.

Russia saw an appeal against the ban rejected in July by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The Russian Football Association has said that “it is currently awaiting the full text of the CAS decision, after which a decision on next steps will be taken after consideration”.
Russia was also banned from the next World Cup in Qatar by FIFA. The team had qualified for the European qualifying play-offs.
Euro 2024 is hosted by Germany with the qualifying draw on October 9 in Frankfurt.
