This Sunday, Benfica will try to get back to winning ways against Estoril Praia, in the 29th round of the Portuguese football league, to restore the leadership advantage for FC Porto and Sporting de Braga.
The ‘incarnate’ have lost their last two games in the championship, against FC Porto (2-1) and Desportivo de Chaves (1-0), and have gone four games in a row without winning, including those with Inter Milan in the Champions League (one loss and one draw).
At the worst stage of the season, Benfica receives Estoril Praia, a team emerging from two consecutive defeats and ranked 15th in the championship, the first to guarantee immediate maintenance.
Roger Schmidt’s team know that only a win will allow Benfica to restore their four-point lead at the top of the league, as they enter the field one point ahead of FC Porto and three points ahead of Sporting de Braga, teams Paços de Ferreira and Casa Pia have already won this round respectively.
Also on the program today is the duel between Arouca, fifth with 45 points, and Vizela, eighth with 39, important in the fight for places to access European competitions, in addition to the reception of Portimonense to Gil Vicente and the match between Santa Clara, last classified, and Desportivo de Chaves.
