Quartararo says he was trying to “survive the curve” when he hit Miguel Oliveira

The French pilot Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) justified the accident this Sunday at the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix, which forced Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) to retire with a dislocated shoulder, in an attempt “to survive the curve”.

“I wasn’t trying to overtake, just surviving the corner. But I had the [Marco] Bezzechi on the right and Miguel [Oliveira] on the left. I played on Bezzecchi and Miguel’s bikes, but only because I didn’t have space. It was just a matter of trying to turn around,” explained the Frenchman.

Quartararo says, therefore, that “there was no reason for the sanction” of a long lap that was attributed to him.

On the RNF Aprilia side, the team where the Portuguese rider, the founder, Razlan Razali, assumes that it was “another Grand Prix to forget”.

“After the good result in the sprint race on Saturday, we expected a similar result with Miguel in the main race, but unfortunately he had an incident with Fabio Quartararo and Marco Bezzecchi, which caused him an injury,” he stressed. . .

The Malaysian believes that “the good news is that he doesn’t have any broken bones, just a dislocated shoulder.”

“It was an unfortunate race incident, we do not believe that there was any bad intention on the part of the drivers involved,” stressed the RNF manager.

The sports director of the RNF, Wilco Zeelenberg, considers “sad [Oliveira] always being left out of the test”.

“After having shown great pace throughout the weekend, being eliminated after two corners is a great disappointment,” he stressed, before heading to the hospital to check the Portuguese’s physical condition and see if “he can compete in the next round ”. .
