Vira is not only Minho style. Benfica beats Vizela after another upset

The nightfall of the city of Lisbon invited, this Friday, the fans to the Estádio da Luz for the match between Benfica and Vizela, which counts for the fifth day of the I League. 100% of victories was in danger, but Neres’ goal and João Mário’s penalty frustrated Minho’s advantage from the 20th minute.

The vira is the typical dance of the Minho, but it was Benfica who practiced it, in Lisbon, with the second comeback on the scoreboard, after losing on Tuesday also against Paços de Ferreira.

Still without the reinforcements from the last day of the transfer market, Draxler and John Brooks, the reds presented themselves with the young central defender António Silva to replace the injured Morato. Gilberto returned to the eleven, after being replaced by Bah in the last match, against Paços de Ferreira.

From the first minute he stepped onto the pitch, Roger Schmidt’s orchestra took control of the match and began to create scoring chances. In the 10th minute, Gonçalo Ramos appeared with a header between Minho’s central defenders and even hit the crossbar of Luz’s north goal.

Those who do not score are exposed to the possibility of suffering, and that is what happened. Vizela, in a daring offensive transition, took the lead in the I League leader’s enclosure. Kiko Bondoso received the ball in midfield after an attack by the Reds and, with a deep pass, found striker Osmajic, who ran to the edge of the area, overcame Benfica’s defense and shot it 0-1.

The Eagles’ quest for defeat began shortly after Vizela’s goal. Before the end of the first half and after a free-kick by João Mário, Gonçalo Ramos appeared again with a header, but the ball hit the crossbar again, this time, on the right post of Buntic’s goal. At the break, the result was 0-1, favorable to the visitors.

After the 15-minute break, Benfica took the initiative again, but the lack of inspiration of the eleven Benfiquistas once again hit the imperial display of the German goalkeeper, filling the goal that corresponded to him. On the contrary, the vizelenses, in the opportunities they created, made the defense of the incarnate tremble.

The best chances for the local team came from Gonçalo Ramos’s header. In the third the moment did not come and the young Portuguese striker failed again in the goal, with the ball resting on the top net, held by the crossbar.

As the end of the match approached, only a magic number seemed to give hope to the benfiquistas present in the stands. In the 76th minute, David Neres agreed to the request and, coming from the sideline, pulled the rabbit out of his hat, and tied the game with a shot from outside the area, with no chance of defense.

After the tie, Benfica, encouraged by their fans, tried to turn the score around. In stoppage time, Gonçalo Ramos was sent off for simulation and he already knows that he is out of Roger Schmidt’s plans for the next round, in Famalicão.

At 90+8′, in the last breath of the match, Rafa received the ball and shot, but the hand of the Vizela defender was enough for Benfica to call a penalty. João Mário, called to the coup, did not waste his time and confirmed the turnaround in the scoreboard and the victory of the eagles by 2-1.

During the celebration, the Portuguese midfielder took off his shirt and created an unusual situation, as he saw the second yellow card and was sent off. Benfica left the match against Vizela with two sure absences for the next match against Famalicenses.

The Reds have won five in the same number of games in the championship, remaining isolated at the top of the I Liga, with 15 points, provisionally five more than Sporting de Braga, second, who host Vitória de Guimarães on Saturday, while Vizela ranks 15th, with five.
