Sporting thrashed Anderlecht 7-1 this Friday in the semifinals of the Futsal Champions League and secured qualification for the final of the competition.
The ‘lions’ will thus try to reach their third trophy in the competition, after conquests in the 2018/19 and 2020/21 seasons, having also been present in the decisive match four more times (2010/11, 2016/17, 2017 /18 and 2021/22).
Against an opponent who surprisingly ensured their presence in the ‘final four’ after eliminating the Spanish from FC Barcelona, Sporting did not give many options today, having reached the break already winning 6-0, with goals from Cavinato, Tomás Paçó, Merlin, Edu (own goal), Neves and Erick Mendonça.
Anderlecht finally managed to score early in the second half, through Jelovcic, but Neves scored twice in the game and put an end to any Belgian hope of ever getting back into the discussion of the result.
In the final, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sporting will face the winner of today’s match between Benfica and the host Palma Futsal.
