Belenenses tied this Saturday with Sanjoanense and secured promotion to the II Liga. It is the fifth consecutive promotion for the Belém club, five years after parting ways with the former SAD and starting again in the Lisbon district championships.
The Blues secured first place in Série 2 of the Climb Stage of Liga 3, ahead of Länk Vilaverdense, Sanjoanense and Amora.
It is the return of the historic Portuguese club, one of the five clubs that have already been national champions, to the professional championships.
Belenenses joins another historic player in Portuguese football in promotion to the II Liga, after União de Leiria achieved promotion last week.
