Coach Leonardo Jardim became the first Portuguese coach to win the Football League of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) title this Sunday, with Shabab Al-Ahli beating Bani Yas 2-1.
After a goalless first half, the home side even took the lead, through Serbian defender Sasa Ivkovic, in the 61st minute, but Shabab came back with goals from Ganiev (70) and Alghassani (74) to win the title of UAE champions.
Leonardo Jardim thus celebrated the fourth championship title of his career, following his successes at the helm of Monaco (France), Olympiacos (Greece) and Al-Hilal (Saudi Arabia).
The team from Dubai, which has not lost for the championship in 13 games, celebrated the title by scoring 54 points in 25 rounds, have reached the quarter-finals of the UAE Cup and the round of 16 of the Asian Champions League.
