Sporting beat Benfica and won the Men’s Futsal Super Cup this Sunday. At the Matosinhos Congress Palace, the lions, after a three-goal draw in regulation time and four in extra time, became stronger in the penalty shootout.
In Matosinhos, Leon goalkeeper Bernardo Paçó stopped the penalties taken by Arthur and Diego Nunes, after Rocha hit the post, only surpassed by Bruno Coelho. For the Verdiblancos, Cavinato, Pany Varela and Erick Mendonça successfully converted the maximum penalties.
After a 0-0 draw in the first half, the rivals drew 3-3 in the second half of regulation time. João Matos gave Sporting an advantage, in the 21st minute, Diego Nunes responded almost immediately, in the 22nd, with Erick Mendonça, in the 23rd, and Esteban Guerrero, in the 32nd, ahead of the ‘lions’ and Rocha, in the 36th, and Arthur, in the 38th, took the game to extra time.
Sporting scored again first, by Russian Solokov, at 44, with his compatriot Chishkala tied later, at 45, relegating the decision to penalties, in which the two-time national champion and winner of the last four editions of the Cup Portugal sealed winning its 11th Super Cup, maintaining its dominance in the history of the competition, with three more titles than Benfica.
