Coach Rúben Amorim said this Friday that he cannot guarantee the permanence of important footballers for Sporting at the end of this season, but stressed that their continuity at the club does not depend on player transfers.
“I cannot guarantee that there are no players who leave. But it seems to me that we have already shown with Porro that those most important players are going to have to leave due to the clause”, shot the coach of the ‘lions’, in a conference Press, on Hookah.
Amorim was asked if his future at the club could depend on Sporting’s ability to retain important players in the team, unlike what happened earlier this season with the sale of Matheus Nunes to Wolverhampton.
The coach recalled that the departure of the Portuguese international was “a big clash” in the squad because “the dressing room” had lost “someone as important as Palhinha, Dani [Daniel Bragança] was injured and Matheus [Nunes] left”, but stressed that when he questioned his own continuity, this had nothing to do with possible transfers of players.
“The only thing that I questioned whether to stay or go is that as a coach I did not achieve my objectives. It was never because this or that player is going to be sold,” he clarified.
Still on the subject of players leaving the midfield, but facing the recovery of Daniel Bragança, who was absent all season after undergoing knee surgery, the coach considered that the midfielder “will be a very important player”. in the next season. .
