Fernando Pimenta gets silver in K1 1000 in the Szeged World Cup

This Saturday, the Portuguese canoeist Fernando Pimenta won silver in the K1 1000 meters at the I World Cup in Szeged, Hungary, his second medal in this speed canoeing competition and the fourth for Portugal.

Pimenta, who had already won gold in the K1 500 meters on Friday, finished today’s K1 1000 meters final in second place, with a time of 03.34.67 minutes, being surpassed by the Hungarian Adam Varga, who took the gold , while Balint Kopasz, also from Hungary, closed the podium in third place.

This is the fourth medal won by Portugal in the competition, with Hélder Silva’s silver in the C1 200m and paracanoeist Norberto Mourão’s gold in the VL2 200m joining the two medals snatched by Fernando Pimenta.
