Tickets sold out for the women’s Champions League final

Tickets for the women’s Champions League final, to be played on June 3 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, have already been sold, UEFA announced Tuesday.

In a statement, the body that manages European football indicates that the final that will pit FC Barcelona against Wolfsburg “is the first with full capacity since the name of the competition was changed, in 2009/2010.”

UEFA states that “more than 34,100 tickets were issued, which means that the final will break the attendance record for a women’s football match in the Netherlands, previously set in 2019, when the Dutch team faced Australia -also in the PSV Stadium-, before 30,640 spectators”.

Nadine Kessler, UEFA’s general director, considered, in statements released by the organization, that the fact that tickets have sold out is a sign that women’s football has reached a new level.

“This is the first time we have sold out a women’s Champions League final. And this, with just a few weeks to go, is another sign that we have reached a new level. The number of fans wanting to travel with His The team has also grown a lot. Each team managed to move more than 4,500 fans, much more than before,” he said.

The general secretary of the Dutch Football Association (KNVB), Gijs de Jong, considered it “wonderful” to know that this will be the first final with full capacity and highlighted its importance for the sport in the country.

“By bringing games like this to our country, we hope to inspire girls and women to get even more involved in soccer, to become players, coaches, managers, referees or supporters.”

In 2014, the women’s soccer Champions League final was held at the Restelo stadium in Lisbon, in which the German team of Wolfsburg beat the Swedish team of Tyreso, 4-3.
