The torrential rains that hit much of Italy forced the Enzo e Dino Ferrari Autodrome, also known as Imola, to be evacuated on Tuesday, days before hosting the Emilia Romagna Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The flooding of the Santerno River caused the sports facilities to be surrounded by water, flooding several sections of road near the track, as well as the car park and some grassy hills, where the railings for the public are located.

The strong storm keeps the Emilia-Romagna region (central-northern Italy) on red alert and has already caused the interruption of trains on some lines, the suspension of classes and the displacement of hundreds of people, due to the high risk of flood.
With an accumulation of 150 liters per square meter of rain in 48 hours, some rivers and streams reach their limit as they pass through several locations, especially in the areas of Ravenna, Romagna, Bologna, Modena and in the mountains of the central region. .
The storm is not expected to subside in the coming days and the red alert continues in much of Emilia-Romagna, where rain is expected until Saturday, the day scheduled for free practice and qualifying for the Grand Prix.
The Emilia Romagna GP is the sixth race of the Formula 1 season and takes place from May 19 to 21 in Imola.
