Ferro knows well what it is to celebrate the conquest of a national title with Benfica: the central defender formed in Seixal was at the Marquês party in 2018/2019. Fora da Luz, two years ago, he confessed to TSF who is one more cheering for the 38 red championship.
“I think so [que o título já não foge ao Benfica]I really believe that Benfica is going to celebrate this Sunday”, he begins by saying.
And even if it doesn’t happen, he says he is “convinced” that against Santa Clara, next week -the last date of the championship-, the eagles will celebrate.
“But I think that Benfica has all the conditions to celebrate this Sunday”, he reinforces.
In TSFFerro remembers derbies like Sporting-Benfica this Sunday as always special matches. They are worth “the same points”, yes, only that “this game can be worth a title”.
“We always have to approach matches in the same way. Knowing, of course, that we can give our fans extra joy ”, he points out.
Ferro still remembers the title celebration at Marquês de Pombal, he says that it is impossible to forget a moment like this.
This year the center-back won’t be able to do it, at least in Lisbon, but he assures that in Croatia, where he plays for Hajduk Split, “there will be someone celebrating.”
Launched into Benfica’s main team in 18/19 by Bruno Lage, Ferro made 60 appearances for the eagles’ main team until leaving in 2021/2022. Now, looking at the red squad, it is a player with whom he shares the position of central defender who impresses him: António Silva.
