Portuguese international defender Nélson Semedo has extended his contract with Wolverhampton for a further two seasons, until the end of the 2024-25 season, the 13th-placed club in the English Football League announced on Friday.
Nélson Semedo, 29, joined Wolverhampton from FC Barcelona in 2020 and became a regular starter in three seasons with the ‘wolves’, playing more than 100 games – including 39 in the current season – and scoring two goals.
The club’s sporting director Matt Hobbs said he was “delighted” to have exercised the contractual option to extend the contract of the right-back, “a player in whom the coach [espanhol Julen Lopetegui] real trust” and with that the link to the English emblem broke within a month.
In Portugal, the full-back represented Sintrense, Fátima and Benfica, who stood out in the ‘incarnates’, before leaving for Catalonia.
In addition to Nélson Semedo, eight Portuguese players are also part of the Wolverhampton selection: goalkeeper José Sá, defender Toti Gomes, midfielders Rúben Neves, Matheus Nunes and João Moutinho and strikers Pedro Neto, Daniel Podence and Chiquinho.
