Juventus was penalized this Monday with the loss of ten points in the Italian soccer league, in the framework of the so-called “capture case”, in which it is accused of increasing the value of soccer players to generate higher income for signings.
The Court of Appeal of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has sanctioned the Turin club with “10 penalty points in the classification to be met in the current sports season”, the entity has indicated in a statement, which implies the loss of Second-class Juventus. to seventh place in Serie A, with 59 points.
Initially, the ‘vecchia signora’ had been penalized with a 15-point sanction, however, later, the College of Guarantees of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), an independent body that is the third and last level of Italian sports justice, decided suspend the sentence, sending the case for reassessment.
Juventus is accused of having increased the market value of its players to obtain more benefits from their subsequent sale and the judicial decision was made with two days to go before the end of the transalpine championship, leaving Juventus far from the European posts.
Even so, former leaders Pavel Nedved, Paolo Garimberti, Assia Grazioli Venier, Caitlin Mary Hughes, Daniela Marilungo, Francesco Roncaglio and Enrico Vellano were acquitted of the charges they faced, in a hearing that lasted more than three hours.
This is one of the processes of the so-called ‘Prism Investigation’, which also includes the case of salary maneuvers allegedly committed by Juventus, where the Portuguese ‘star’ Cristiano Ronaldo played for three seasons (2018/19, 2019/20 and 2020 /twenty-one).
