Born in Ponte Lima, the canoeist finished competing with a silver medal in the K1 5,000m race, a distance he had to retire from at the World Cup in Szeged, Hungary, 15 days ago after breaking a rudder.

Today Pimenta covered the distance in 21.23.72 minutes, 24.38 seconds behind the winner, Dane Mads Brandt Pedersen, who took the gold.

Norway’s Jon Amund Vold rounded out the podium to win bronze, with a score of 21.31.67, in a K1 5,000 meter race in which also Portuguese João Duarte placed 13th.

A few hours earlier, Fernando Pimenta won the gold medal in the K2 500 meters mixed event together with Teresa Portela, an improvement on the result achieved in Szeged.

Two weeks after taking bronze in the first stage, in Hungary, the Portuguese duo secured victory in 01:42:33 minutes, beating Danes Gustav Bock and Julie Funch in 1.98 seconds, seconds, and in 2.41 seconds surpassed the Ukrainians Oleksandr Zaitsev and Nataliia Dokiienko. , third.

In the women’s final of K1 500, which was discussed today, Teresa Portela was at the ‘door’ of the medals, fourth, with a score of 1.56.27 minutes, a short distance from the Croatian Anamaria Govorcinovic (1.55.87 ) who won the bronze.
