Armando Evangelista leaves Arouca after a historic fifth place

Armando Evangelista is no longer coach of Arouca. The coach leaves after leading the club to fifth place in the 2022-23 edition of the I Liga. Daniel Ramos is chosen to replace him.

Armando Evangelista, 49, has led the club for the past three seasons, managing to return to the top flight, in 2020-21, and hold on last season, finishing 15th, before taking the best-ever ranking in the first division matched, a repeat of the fifth position from 2015-16.

“Arouca announces the departure of coach Armando Evangelista from the technical management of the club. On behalf of President Carlos Pinho, of the entire structure and the Arouquense family, we would like to thank Armando Evangelista and the rest of the technical team for all the work and the dedication in favor of the club, also wishing for future sporting and personal success,” Aroquenses’ statement read.

Daniel Ramos can thus return to training in Portugal after his departure from Santa Clara midway through the 2021-22 season. The 52-year-old coach is without a club after a short spell at Al-Faisaly FC in Saudi Arabia.
