The Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev, number two in the world ranking, was eliminated this Tuesday in the first round of Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of 2023, after being defeated in five sets by the Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild.
Seyboth Wild, No. 172 in the hierarchy and who played in the tie, beat the Russian, who has the best result at Roland Garros in the quarterfinals in 2021, by partials 7-6 (7-5), 6 -7 (6-8), 2-6, 6-3 and 6-4, in a game that lasted four hours and 15 minutes.
In the next round, the 23-year-old Brazilian tennis player will face the winner of the duel between the French Quentin Halys and the Argentine Guido Pela.
