Coach Tulipa left Vizela, six months after assuming command of the team that ranked 11th in the last edition of the Portuguese Football League, the Minho team reported in a statement on Tuesday.
“FC Vizela, Futebol SAD and Tulipa reached an agreement for the amicable termination of the contract that bound the parties. The decision, considered and discussed in a frank conversation between managers and the coach, was made by mutual agreement and preserves the good relationship between all”. read in the publication published on the club’s social networks.
Since Tulipa replaced the coach Álvaro Pacheco, on December 2, 2022, the Vizelians have accumulated seven wins, five draws and 11 losses in 23 games for the I Liga and the Taça da Liga, having reached the best position in the league and the best score in its history – 40 points.
The 50-year-old coach started the 2022/23 season at the head of the Vizela Under-23, with a contract valid until June 2024, and since December he led the main team to seventh place in the table, with 38 points for the matchday 27, before the cycle of seven games without winning in the final phase of the championship dictated the fall to 11th position.
Tulipa completed his second experience as a coach in the main Portuguese league, after passing through Trofense, a badge with which he achieved seven victories in 29 official matches in the 2008/09 season.
The coach also guided Ovarense, in the 2005/06 season, Ribeirão (2006/07 and 2014/15), Estoril Praia (2007/08), Desportivo de Chaves (2009/10), Sporting da Covilhã (2010/11 and 2011/12), as well as the youth of FC Porto (2017/18 to 2019/20) and the sub-23 of Marítimo, in 2021/22.
