Three people were injured and seven were arrested over clashes that took place hours before the Europa League football final, which will be played today in Budapest against Rome against Sevilla.
“Several people collided” in the early afternoon, in the streets of the Hungarian capital, stage of the final, says the local police statement.
According to the same statement, “a Spaniard and a Swede were taken to hospital for further care”. Police say “accusations of hooliganism” have been made and seven supporters have been arrested.
Each of the clubs expect around 15,000 supporters tonight in Puskas Arena, a stadium that has an official capacity of 68,000.
Roma take on Sevilla in the final of Europa League football today, with Portuguese coach José Mourinho aiming to win the second consecutive European trophy for the Italians against the league’s record holder of titles.
Jose Mourinho, who led the Romans to the Europa League last season, is looking for new European glory, against an opponent who has won all six finals played (2006, 2007, still called the UEFA Cup, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2020).
